For such a small island, we are blessed with a vast array of places to eat and drink.
From freshly caught seafood to fresh meat you can prepare yourself at the table on hot stones, to vegetarian & vegan restaurants!
As for drinks, experience some of the best sea views to sip a cocktail or better still have the mojito man swim up to your boat at sea and prepare fresh mojitos on board.
Obviously being a small island there is a vast choice of restaurants providing freshly caught seafood. However with this being a Mediterranean island the fish available differs from that available in the U.K. Typical fish you will find here are john dory, lemon sole, grouper fish, lobsters and large prawns.
My personal favourite is Can Puyol which is in the Cala De Bouarea of San Jose. Offering some of the best seafood on the island. They are especially famous for their paella. My favorite dish here is the seafood mixed grill, the size and variety has to be seen to believed. To top it all off Can Puyol has incredible views of the ocean and even the famous Ibiza sunset. Can Puyol isnt at the cheap end of the dining scale, however for a treat every once in a while diners will look to pay approx 100E for 2 people including drinks. You will not be disappointed!
Another great fish restaurant and a hidden gem on the island is the fish shack. This isnt your conventional style restaurant as the decor is minimal and the fixtures and fittings basic. This restaurant is all about the fish, and the menu consists of what has been freshly caught that day. The price also reflects this as 2 can dine for approx 50E. You will find the fish shack on Talamanca beach.
When we talk about meat, The Old Cock ( El Viejo Gallo) springs to mind straight away. The owner also owns the locals butchers which guarantees the meat served is of the highest standard. In the old cock they serve fresh ox which you can cook yourself over hot stones, the meat literally melts in the mouth. The cock also serves a wide selection of fresh seafood, but its the meat which makes this restaurant. You can find the old cock in Port Des Torrent San Jose just up from the beach. Diners will look to pay approx 80E for 2 people including drink.
As opposed to recommending the usual famous cocktail experiences, e.g. cafe mambo etc im going to go for something a little different. My recommendation is the mojito man, who if you happen to be around sunset in your boat will swim up with his waterproof bag, climb on board and make fresh mojitos on your boat for a reasonable price approx 8E. What a service!
Another underated cocktail bar is the Tulp bar on San Antonio beach. A lovely relaxed setting with hammocks and chill out lounges and a great selection of cocktails with fresh ingredients, for example why not sample their peach daquiri, highly recommended. Their prices are pretty standard ranging from 7-10E
As for the healthy option the undoubted winner is passion cafe for food and drink. Their selection of fresh smoothies and juices are unrivalled. resulting in them now having 4 premises on the island. They also offer a raw menu, which includes things like a tagliatelle pasta made from courgettes. All their juices are made from organic produce found here on the island. You can try an ultimate detox juice or the an energiser to give you a natural boost. They can be found in Playa Dem Bossa, Marina Botofoch, be fit gym and Santa Eulalia. The best thing about Passion Cafes is the positivity not only in all the food and drink but so the positive affirmations everywhere. No matter how you feel when you enter you leave feeling fantastic! This place is also great for my wedding diet! 🙂
Now you have no excuses to sample some of the best local dishes on the island and make sure you wash them down after with a fresh cocktail to make all your worries disappear!
Where ever you go in Ibiza and what ever you do , you are sure to make some amazing life experiences, am sure you wont forget!! I feel like this every time I get a day off!
